Acoustic Tracking of Sharks

In June 2024, the GAT Project, in partnership with the Integrated Marine Observing System Animal Tracking Facility (IMOS ATF), deployed 15 acoustic receivers in Shark Bay and tagged nine tiger sharks. These tags provide fine-scale, long-term data on shark habitat use and behavior. Future plans include expanding the acoustic tracking to other species and potentially establishing a permanent array in Shark Bay.
